Muhurram


Commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (‘a) and his noble companions from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 27 June. The programme begins promptly each evening at 7:45 pm.

The gatherings open with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by Ziarat Ashura. Speeches are delivered in English or Farsi or both. The programme continues with azadari and maddahi in English, Farsi and Arabic, along with congregational prayers of Maghrib and Isha. Each night concludes with nazri dinner, served to the lovers of Imam Hussain (A.S).

Key Messages
Imam Hussain (‘a) and his companions sacrifice their lives to uphold the principles of Islam and to establish a movement against falsehood, immorality, injustice, tyranny and oppression across all times and places.

Despite the severe trials and brutalities inflicted upon them, they face every challenge with unwavering courage and determination, leaving behind timeless lessons for humanity. Their honesty, steadfastness and commitment to their cause illuminate the highest standards of Islamic and moral values at Karbala.

Among the many lessons of Karbala, one vital message is the central importance of salat (namaz), which remains a cornerstone of faith and guidance for all believers.
